I'm happy to announce that another story of mine has now become available. This time, I've gone outside my usual territory and written my first story for the young adult fantasy genre.
PROM DATES TO DIE FOR is a new anthology from an exciting publisher called Buzz Books. Now available as a print book or an e-book, this anthology includes short stories by five different authors, including me, all based on what happens when paranormal events take place at the prom.
My story, "A Kiss on the Threshold," is the tale of a young man, a musician, who is mostly a loner in high school and has no intention of even going to the prom, but is convinced by a series of events to attend the dance and ends up facing a very strange threat that only he is really aware of.
While I've never intentionally written for what is now called the "young adult" audience, I found that it's really no different than writing any other type of story. After all, readers, regardless of age, all want the same things: excitement, suspense, danger, mystery, romance, etc. So while the genre label might be a little different than the descriptions you'd see applied to my other books, I think anybody who has enjoyed any of my other work will enjoy this story too, and there's some great stuff by the other writers in the anthology as well. I hope everyone reading this will be encouraged to check it out.

The Doctor and the Dog
Several years ago, I wrote the novel Season of Madness, starring Sherlock Holmes' companion and friend Dr. John Watson, published by Airship 27 Productions. Today, Airship 27 has released its second Watson novel. The new book, Dr. Watson's American Adventure, was written by my fellow pulp writer Erwin K. Roberts. In the book, Watson travels to the United States where he works with Teddy Roosevelt to solve a mystery without the help of Holmes.
I was fortunate to have a hand in this book too. While Erwin K. Roberts wrote the Watson story, I was asked to contribute a bonus story to fill out the book. My story, "Hyde and Seek," features the return of my character Captain Quincy "Hound-Dog" Harker, who first apppeared in the backup story for Season of Madness. Hound-Dog Harker is, for those unfamiliar with the character, the son of Jonathan and Mina Harker of Bram Stoker's novel Dracula, now grown up and working for the British Secret Service.
The book is illustrated by my good friend and frequent collaborator Pedro Cruz, with a cover by Rob Davis and Shane Evans.

I'm thrilled to be a part of this book and to have had the opportunity to work with Pedro, Rob, and editor Ron Fortier again, and with Erwin and Shane for the first time!
